2 Week Checkup!

We had our two week check up yesterday. Yes today marks 3 weeks- we aren't very good at adding! Well, Bryell is 7.05 pounds and 21.5 inches long. She is starting to fit into newborn clothing and to me is getting very big!!! She is gaining so much control of her head and grabbing onto things. She has been so fun! I love staying at home with her and am so sad that Monday I go back to work- I keep telling myself that its only for two weeks....I can do it!

On Monday, I took Bryell up to meet our classes. It was so fun to see them react to a baby. The students didn't believe us when we told them that they were at once that size also.

It has been too windy to go for walks but we have went to Rock Springs twice and to Kemmerer for our doctor appointment. At our doctor appointment we had our old doctor back. Sad to say....I missed the stand in one. They are both AMAZING doctors, I just think I like the stand in one better :( But with no good reason to switch, I would feel too bad switching. Our second time in Rock Springs, we met up with Josh, Kara, and Brecken. Bryell got to meet Uncle Josh and Brecken for the first time. But unfortunately she wasn't very entertaining...slept the whole time!! Next time maybe she will at least open her eyes :)

Hmmm...not much else new. We will have to upload some updated pictures.

First Bath

Bryell's first bath was actually a while ago it just took us awhile to get the pictures uploaded and time to get online. Its amazing how often I'm not online or watching TV anymore. There seems to be better things to do with Jeffrey and Bryell.

She is slowly starting to get day and night figured out. We have had several good nights but several horrible ones also. Its been so fun though. Jeffrey took all last week off so we just got to hang out and get the family routine going. We love her so much!

Here are pics from Bryell's bath. She did wonderful. She only cried when we washed or back but other then that didn't cry or really even fuss. The worst part was changing her diaper at the end- which is something she is completely used to!

Bryell and the Hospital Trip

Bryell Elizabeth Sandlian

I have seen that this is posted already but On Thursday, April 23rd, we welcomed our gorgeous baby girl into our life. Wednesday night about 11, my water broke. Of course we had no idea what was going on so Jeffrey googled it. We waited the half hour suggested and then went up to school to check sub plans and make sure they would have something to work with. Then we headed to Kemmerer. We checked into the hospital at 1:10 and not 20 minutes later our stand in doctor was there to agree that my water did indeed break. I went the whole night having contractions every 3-5 minutes. The nurse of course told me to sleep--um....that was not really possible... We had brought our computer, ipods, and dvds so began to watch Rush Hour. The night really went by fast but possibly because we didn't get there until after 1! Next thing we know the nurses are trading out and I'm 7cm dilated. From there, it didn't take much longer.

Bryell Elizabeth Sandlian was born at 10:54am. They announced her as 5 pounds 16 ounces. We were all so excited we didn't notice the mistake. One nurse says-"wait, no she doesn't- that's 6 pounds" Yes, that was true, lol! She registered at 5 pounds 15.9 ounces. She peed right away so they decided 6 pounds would be accurate. She is 19.5 inches long. She is a long baby put tiny! Newborn clothes and newborn diapers don't fit her. We have preemie of each now and they fit better BUT she is a bit long for the clothes. The newborn fall off of her though so we like the preemie better. And this way she has some clothes!

The hospital and the doctor were amazing. The doctor agreed to take off his BYU hat for delivery :) We got a nice steak and potato dinner and tons and tons of juice! The nurses were so wonderful and sat down with us for a while and went over all our infant care questions. It was great.

Bryell's first night at the hospital all she wanted to do was sleep. We couldn't really get her up to even eat! The first night home all she did was eat and no sleep- it was quite a contrast. Last night however was a bit more 'normal' for a baby. Sleep, eat, sleep, eat. It was a bit more enjoyable for mommy and daddy! I felt like I had slept 12 hours but it was only like 5!

ALMOST 39 Weeks!

I have to say- the baby seems as though she will never come! She's moving around more subtly and her movements are beginning to hurt as she just shoves a knee or a foot out for a few minutes. You can definitely tell she is getting bigger.

My students for Mother's Day make a flower picture that has their feet as the leaves, the side of their hand as the stem, their hands as the flower part and their fist and fingertips as the middle of the flower- they are really cute. We have spent the past few weeks working on those. I have to say my cooperating teachers are so amazing! They took my class and did their feet so I didn't have to sit on the ground and try to maneuver feet around. I dread doing my own class every year and the volunteered to do an EXTRA class! THEN another teacher came in and helped me do the rest of the flower- which makes it go by much faster and makes it much more fun- I really appreciated the help. I have to say we work in an outstanding school.

The girl who is doing my maternity leave came in yesterday to get acquainted with the classroom and figure things out. She is a really good teacher and i am so excited she agreed to come in. She also agreed to do her own lesson plans as long as I tell her what needs to be done- That takes a lot of stress of off me! And its even better because I trust her and don't have to worry about what is happening at school. She isn't available until April 29th so the student teacher from kindergarten will come in if we need someone before then. She also is a really good teacher-- and I think if you can handle the kindergarten class we have this year- you deserve some sort of trophy! They really are good kids just high maintenance! Yay for next year! :)

I am told by Jeffrey that I messed up his prediction. He says she will be born on the 25th but that it will be at 3:13- not 3:18 or whatever I ended up putting. So I apologize to him and told him I would correct his guess.

I know I have more, but I will get back to this later- we have a doctor's appointment tomorrow, I will update after we get back from that.
